Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS)

What is MHHS?

Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement, or MHHS, is an Ofgem-directed industry reform that changes how electricity consumption is processed and settled across Great Britain.

It introduces new market arrangements across Smart, Advanced and Unmetered market segments and moves the industry towards using more granular half-hourly consumption information for settlement.

MHHS is intended to support a more accurate, efficient and flexible electricity market, while creating stronger foundations for new products and services that may help customers use energy more flexibly.

How will the change happen?

MHHS is an industry-wide change being introduced through a managed migration process, with all migrations required to be completed by May 2027. Evolve Energy will manage the transition of its electricity portfolio into the new arrangements as part ofthis wider industry programme.

The change is being managed behind thescenes. Customers do not need to track industry migration dates or milestones, and Evolve Energy will contact customers directly if any information or actionis required.

What does this mean for you?

For most customers, MHHS migration happens behind the scenes and no action is needed.

Uninterrupted

Your electricity supply won’t be interrupted by the MHHS migration process.

Unchanged

Your existing contract and account number stay the same when your supply moves to MHHS.

Metering

MHHS doesn’t, by itself, mean you need a new meter. If any metering work is needed, we’ll contact you.

Managed

We manage the migration behind the scenes, so you don’t need to track industry dates or milestones.

Informed

We’ll contact you directly if we need any information or action from you.

Future-ready

Over time, MHHS should support more accurate settlement and more flexible products. What’s available to you will depend on your circumstances, metering and product.

Everything you need to know

Will I need a new meter?

Not necessarily. MHHS changes the way electricity consumption is processed and settled. Migration to MHHS does not, by itself, mean that your meter needs to be replaced. If separate metering work is required, Evolve Energy will contact you.

Will my electricity supply be interrupted?

No. MHHS migration is an industry data and settlement change and does not require an interruption to your electricity supply.

Will my bill or rates change?

MHHS migration does not, by itself, change your existing contract, account number or agreed rates. Any future product, pricing or billing changes would be communicated separately where applicable.

Do I need to do anything?

In most cases, no action is required. Evolve Energy will manage the migration process and contact you if any information or action is needed.

Can I opt out of MHHS?

No. MHHS is a mandatory industry-wide change to electricity settlement arrangements. Customers cannot opt out of their electricity supply being migrated through the agreed industry process.

What are the potential benefits of MHHS?

MHHS is intended to support more accurate and timely settlement information, improve market efficiency and create stronger foundations for flexible products and services. The benefits available to individual customers will depend on factors including metering, consumption data and product availability.

Will MHHS change how my consumption data is used?

MHHS changes how electricity consumption information is processed for settlement. Evolve Energy will continue to handle customer and consumption data in line with applicable data-protection requirements and its privacy information.
