Evolve Energy facilitates competitive electricity supply at London Stansted Airport

The licensed energy supplier has helped Inflite Engineering Services assume direct control of its electricity supply pricing arrangements, despite operating on the airport’s private wire network

Evolve Energy Supply Ltd (Evolve Energy), a licensed UK energy supplier pioneering energy solutions that unlock access to true renewable energy for I&C businesses, has helped Inflite Engineering Services (Inflite) access competitive electricity supply at London Stansted Airport. Under the deal, Evolve Energy has become Inflite’s licensed energy supplier, facilitating arrangements to move the business away from the airport’s private wire network tariff. This shift empowers Inflite by enabling them to manage its own energy, negotiate costs directly and secure a supply agreement that puts them in control of their future decarbonisation strategy.

This milestone signals a shift in how medium-sized businesses manage their energy supply. Since 2011, UK Electricity and Gas Regulations have granted customers situated within private wire networks the ability to buy electricity directly from third-party licensed suppliers via a generic metering dispensation. Despite this, however, uptake has been extremely limited due to the complex regulatory and logistical obstacles involved. These range from installing new fiscal meters on private wire networks, which in airports, can require strict safety and access planning for runways and detailed site schematics, to coordinating the right officials for installation. These lengthy, costly processes have made it difficult for businesses to find a supplier willing to go the extra mile, until now.
