Scope of the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled SQL Database Administrator (DBA) / Technical Specialist to maintain, optimise, and enhance our internal database environments. This individual will be responsible for the support and administration of our SQL Server infrastructure, including SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) and SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services).
They will actively seek out opportunities to improve performance, security, and scalability, as well as design hybrid database architectures that leverage both on-premises and cloud-based environments (AWS/Azure). In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience implementing advanced projects such as data lakes and centralised data pools for better reporting and application development.
The role will require an enthusiastic and confident induvial to join our high calibre and hardworking team, at an exciting and pivotal time supporting and maintaining the business growth.
You will need a ‘can do’ attitude and a proven track record in data analysis so that you can spur on change and start making a difference straight away.

Roles & Responsibilities
What You'll Be Doing:
Database Administration & Maintenance:
Manage and maintain SQL Server databases, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to SQL databases, SSRS, and SSIS.
Implement clustering solutions to improve redundancy, disaster recovery, and high availability.
Performance Optimisation:
Analyse and monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance improvements.
Provide recommendations for indexing, query optimisation, and other enhancements to ensure system efficiency.
Hybrid Database Solutions:
Design and implement hybrid cloud solutions that leverage both on-premises and cloud-based databases (AWS or Azure) for redundancy and scalability.
Recommend and configure clustering in a hybrid environment to protect data and increase redundancy.
Cloud & Data Management:
Assist in planning and executing cloud migration strategies for databases, data lakes, and centralized reporting platforms.
Collaborate with the team to design and implement data lakes for better data consolidation and reporting.
Database Security & Compliance:
Ensure that database environments follow best security practices to protect sensitive data.
Conduct audits, implement encryption, and provide guidance on data privacy regulations.
Collaboration & Documentation:
Work closely with developers, system administrators, and business stakeholders to ensure databases meet organisational needs.
Document all processes, configurations, and key decisions for future reference and training.
Personal Specification Skills & Experience
What Makes You the Perfect Fit:
Proven experience with SQL Server, including SSRS and SSIS.
Strong knowledge of database clustering, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies.
Experience with cloud database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL) and hybrid architectures.
Expertise in database security, including encryption, auditing, and compliance.
Familiarity with data lakes and data consolidation for centralised reporting and application building.
Bonus Points if You:
Experience with both AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
Familiarity with additional cloud services like Amazon Redshift, Azure Data Lake, or other big data solutions.
Certifications in database management (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, AWS Certified Database - Specialty).
Personal Attributes:
Excellent people skills, able to collaborate with a wide range of people to meet deadlines
Experience of working in a fast-moving environment, with an ability to handle numerous projects with competing deadlines and priorities
Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
